You may not have noticed, but we began to do something different with ConnectandColor®. We closed the spaces in between the words. From Connect and Color® to ConnectandColor®. So simple, but why? As a graphic designer, I am well versed in classic design methodology. Font selection, color theory, proportions- all of it excites me. When working on a design project for my company, I realize if I am not careful the gaps in the name can put the words on two different lines. Connect and…  And what? I want your eye to visually see the entire company name together, not separated. It’s symbolic of what ConnectandColor® is all about.

This made me think about the ‘spaces in between’ in our own personal lives. The spaces that might be separating us from one another. Wasted time on social media and not enough time living in the present moment with friends/family who are sitting right in front of us. Living in a state of unforgivenness towards others creates gaps. Isolating ourselves because of mistakes we have made or because we don’t feel worthy, creates an unhealthy space. Being too busy with the insane daily pace of our lives that we have no time to sit and quietly reflect on how and should close those gaps.

What would happen if we deleted some of the ‘spaces in between’ in our lives? Isolation and loneliness would diminish. Others would feel valued, heard, and seen. Perhaps our high levels of stress and anxiety would melt away. The new quiet time we create could be a time of innovation, without the assistance of AI. We would have time to say hello to our neighbors, and most importantly, grow a much needed sense of commUNITY, with compassion and empathy for others.

While we don’t have all the answers, we do know what happens when people come together to participate in one of our ConnectandColor® events. Sitting side-by-side while coloring sparks conversations easily. People engage with each other when they solve the puzzle together. And when they reveal the surprise, inspirational design? They feel a greater sense of togetherness, knowing that we are not meant to be alone, we are meant to be together in commUNITY. Are there any gaps you can close in your own life? As Ryunosuke Satoro states so eloquently “Individually we are one drop, together we are one ocean.”
